The ten year old twins, Clara and Clarissa, put on their Witch costumes on Halloween night. "Ok, are we brave enough this year to explore the haunted house up on the hill?" Clara asked."Yeah!" Clarissa exclaimed.
When they arrived at the top of the hill, they said together, "Ok, here goes!" and they opened the door to the dark, old house. There was a dark flight of stairs infront of them. "Let's go!" Clarissa whispered, and they hurried up the steps. There was a long, dark hallway at the top. They walked down the hall and into a room. The furniture was as good as new! "The furniture looks so new!" Clara said. They looked inside more rooms and those were full of nice furniture, too. "Hey! Look at this! It's full of toys and candy!" Clarissa said, looking inside a chest. "Very suspicious." Clara said, thinking hard.
Suddenly, a zombie came hurtling down the hall! Clarissa screamed! The zombie gasped and ran back up the hall. "Woah, that was a-awfully st-strange!" Clara said, terrified. "C-come on." she said, and lead Clarissa up another flight of stairs and into the attic.
There was a shriek coming from behind a box! "Wh-who's there?" Clara said cautiously, while Clarissa stood still, horrified. A little girl emerged from behind the box. She looked about seven years old and she was terrified. "Are you... Witches?" She whispered shakily. The twins burst out laughing. "We're not witches! We're girls! These are our Halloween costumes!" Clara said, very relieved. Then her smile vanished. "Are you trapped here?" she asked as Clarissa's smile vanished, too. Then it was the little girl's turn to laugh. "No! I'm not trapped here! The zombie roming around the house is my brother!" she explained. "Then, who are you and why are you here?" Clarissa asked, puzzled.
"My brothers and sister and I live here with our parents! You've probably never seen us before because we never leave the house!" she said. "Why don't you leave the house?" Clara asked. "Because... Because my parents just don't think it's safe." The girl answered sadly. Then she perked up. "Anyway, let me introduce myself. My name is Jennifer. Wesley! Ricky! Kelly!" Jennifer called.
Slowly a tall girl, a small boy, and a zombie came up the steps and into sight. "So this is my sister Kelly, and my brothers Ricky and Wesley. Wesley, take off that costume!" Jennifer demanded. The zombie seemed to be pulling off it's own head until it revealed a tall boy. "Hello! My name is Clara and this is Clarissa!" Clara said. "Jenny, what are they doing in our house?" The little boy asked. "Ricky, they came to see our house!" Jennifer said to him. "Hello everyone!" the tall girl said. "You guys really scared me! I thought you were real witches!" the tall boy said. "Oh! Is that why you ran away?" Clara asked. The boy nodded. "Well, now that that's all sorted out, we have lots of candy!" Jennifer announced. "Yeah! And we could have a party!" Ricky exclaimed excitedly. The twins got four new friends that Halloween. So that is how the kids of the house on the hill got their first friends.
Happy Halloween!!!
