Here's the second part of my story, "The Wish Boat." The first part is in the entry titled "The Wish Boat."
“Daddy, stop it! I’m not kidding. I really think we took a wrong turn and went into the wrong harbor,” I elbowed my Dad in the stomach.
“I’m serious, honey! This is our cruise ship! Life is completely different for us now,” Dad nudged me back. Then my face lit up. I knew that it was true- my prayers had worked. My family wasn’t poor anymore! We could afford a decent vacation! Now I was whooping for joy, screaming for everyone to hurry up and get moving. When we walked up ramp and onto the ship, my breath was taken away.
The place was beautiful! There were round tables with snowy white tablecloths all around the room. A man in a suit played a black grand piano in the corner. Everything shone and was lined with gold.
“Oh, Matthew, it’s wonderful!” Mom breathed. My brother shrieked with delight and toddled over to a glass vase with huge roses in it, reaching out to it in amazement. Mom scooped him up laughingly.
“Hi!” I jumped when I heard a voice from behind. Then I turned around quickly and saw a girl that looked to be about my age, which was twelve. She had sandy blond hair, unlike my brown. Her eyes were the color of mahogany, though, just like mine.
“Hi!” she said again, “My name’s Kayla. What’s yours?”
“I’m Jenny. Um, are you going on vacation too?” I asked.
Kayla laughed. “I live on this boat. My parents work on it. My mom’s the nurse, you know, in case someone gets sick or something. My dad plays piano. He’s right over there.” She pointed to the man playing the piano in the corner.
“Well, I’m here on vacation for a month,” I explained, “Maybe we can be friends?”
“Friends.” We locked pinkies and giggled. I knew we were perfect for eachother.
Next, Kayla showed me all around the boat. She showed me the sitting room, the adult lounge, the kids’ lounge, the guest room I’d be staying in, and her bedroom. I was amazed at how perfectly clean and fancy everything was. Finally, Kayla showed me the deck.
“Wow!” I exclaimed, looking at the breathtaking view of the rippling water. “It’s so pretty, it’s almost enchanted, like a wishing well. It makes me want to make a wish.”
“Go ahead!” Kayla encouraged me.
“Ok,” I said. “I wish-“ Suddenly, the cruise ship started up. The engine was right below us, and made a huge jolt. I was knocked off the deck and into the sea.
“Jenny!” Kayla shrieked.
“Help!” I screamed.
